There are some formalities that must be met for admission to a hospital as well. For scheduled hospitalisations, the first destination is the admissions office located at the right next to the main entrance in Hall 2.

Admission requires presentation of the patient’s insurance card and referral slip from the general practitioner or referring physician. Other important documents (in case of need) are a list of regularly administered medications, records of preliminary examinations as such as X-rays, laboratory results, etc., and, where indicated, an emergency and vaccination certificate, allergy pass and diabetic ID.

You will learn which of these items is required in your particular case from the referring physician or following the preliminary examination in the hospital.

Checklist for inpatient hospitalisation:
Personal storage space is available to you in the patient rooms (small closet, nightstand). Admissions capacity is limited, so you should bring only urgently needed personal effects, particularly:

  • Toiletries (soap, comb, toothbrushing and shaving utensils)
  • Towels, washcloths
  • Eyeglasses, contact lenses
  • Nightgowns/pyjamas
  • Bathrobe/dressing gown
  • Stockings/underwear
  • Slippers
  • Casual wear, where appropriate

Larger amounts of money, jewellery or other valuables should not be brought. The Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens cannot accept liability in case of loss.
