For patients with serious injuries, e.g. following a traffic accident, every second counts. Often, effective communication between emergency first responders on the scene and the receiving hospital is vital to patients’ survival.

The DRF Luftrettung Air Rescue Service flies to the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens.

Bescheinigung TraumaNetzwerk DGUTo ensure quick and highly qualified care for severely injured people, since 2008 there have been more than 50 certified trauma networks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland under the aegis of the German Association for Trauma Surgery [DGU], along a total of nearly 700 certified clinics in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belgium.

These ensure comprehensive, standardised and quality-optimised treatment for severely injured patients.

As a certified ‘regional trauma centre’, the Clinic for Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedics at the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens ranks among the founding members of the TraumaNetzwerk Saar-(Lor)-Lux-Westpfalz and is certified in the TraumaNetzwerk DGU®.
