Support Associations

Social cohesion and dedication to shared objectives are of particular importance. At the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens, there are actually two support associations involved in promoting the interests of patients. Founded and supported by dedicated citizens and employees of the hospital, both associations do what they can to support the medical, nursing, and general-educational work of the hospital.

One support association, Förderverein Westpfalzküken, is actively involved in work of the Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine; the efforts of the other group, Förderverein Patientenforum Städtisches Krankenhaus Pirmasens e. V., are dedicated primarily to advanced training and providing lectures of general medical interest.

An invaluable asset of the constant work by both associations is that the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens is embedded in an informal network of socially committed people in the region.

Through their personal contacts, work and donations, these groups help anchor the hospital in the public’s mind.

Within the Patient Forum support association, particularly worthy of note are the ‘Green Ladies and Gentlemen’ who volunteer their visitation services on behalf of the hospital’s patients.

Both of the associations, Westpfalzküken and Patientenforum Städtisches Krankenhaus Pirmasens e. V., welcome your support. Information on events and opportunities to get involved is available through the respective contact persons.

Since March 2022, the Pirmasens Medical Crisis Aid [Medizinische Krisenhilfe Pirmasens e. V.] has also dedicated itself to providing humanitarian and medical aid to people in areas of crisis and war zones by supporting them with medical equipment and supplies. The idea is to provide quick and unbureaucratic assistance in the form of funds and donations-in-kind.

The members of Westpfalzküken devote their efforts on behalf of family members and young patients at the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens. Since its founding in February 2004, the association has been particularly active in public relations for the Children’s Clinic. During the ‘children’s campaign weeks’, for instance, physicians and other staff at the Municipal Hospital offer free lectures on children’s illnesses and problems. During the ‘children’s campaign weeks’, for instance, physicians and other staff at the Municipal Hospital offer free lectures on children’s illnesses and problems. Children’s parties are regularly organised to offer older and younger guests alike an opportunity to confront any threshold fears and to acquaint themselves with the employees of the Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in a playful setting.

Reading hours provide entertainment in the Children’s Clinic and are very popular with young patients. The mission this association has set for itself includes helping finance medical equipment and purchase toys for the Children’s Clinic.

The members of Westpfalzküken also make their mark in the form of a special gift for all newborn children at the Municipal Hospital: when they are discharged, they receive their own baby sleeping bag; according to the latest medical findings, this helps prevent the feared sudden infant death syndrome.

Information and offers of assistance around sudden infant death syndrome are available through the website of the joint parents’ initiative Plötzlicher Säuglingstod (GEPS) Baden-Württemberg Rheinland-Pfalz Saarland e. V.

All people want to be and stay healthy – and medical progress contributes towards increasing rates of life expectancy. At the same time, the focus is increasingly turning towards individual responsibility for one’s own health.

Given the right information, there is much a person can do; with this in mind, the motto of the charitable support association, Förderverein Patientenforum Städtisches Krankenhaus Pirmasens e.V., is:

‘Protecting life through more knowledge.’

The Patient Forum support association is committed to the mission of supporting the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens in a wide variety of ways. The support the association provides serves to maintain and broaden the offer of services and quality assurance through use of modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

The focus is upon constant advanced training and qualification of employees as well as of the population, in order to promote a high-performing hospital with a human face, and to retain and further develop this hospital in the long run. Activities shared between the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens, doctors in private practice and the people of the region are meant to help ensure that everything occurs in the best interest of the patients. Our aims

Our aims are to establish fast, dedicated provision of humanitarian and medical assistance across borders to people in areas of crisis and war zones, delivering medical equipment and supplies and supporting existing structures. As set forth in our articles of association, these objectives are irrefutably laid out as the purpose for our organisation. Our association’s board of directors and advisory board are the guarantors for implementation of our objectives.

Our support association

To create a legal framework for our activities, our association, the Pirmasens Medical Crisis Aid [Medizinische Krisenhilfe Pirmasens e. V.], was established on 10 March 2022 by the 16 founding members – all employees of the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens. Since then, we are pleased to announce our inclusion in the register of associations at the District Court [Amtsgericht] of Zweibrücken under registration no VR30626, and our recognition as a non-profit by the tax office in Pirmasens.

Now that it has been entered in the register of associations and recognised as a charitable organisation, our association can issue donation receipts to all donors upon request.

Our mission

Our mission is to raise funds and donations-in-kind to permit us to deliver speedy and unbureaucratic assistance in keeping with the purpose of the association. This means that we intend to use all the means available to us to facilitate all possible medical care for those affected by wars and crises worldwide.

News

Naturally, our focus at the moment is on the people of Ukraine, who urgently need our help and solidarity.

Thanks in particular to the efforts of two physicians from Ukraine who are members of our association, we are in a position to deliver assistance directly to the place where it is needed.

Already in recent days, we have received a variety of small, large and very large donations of funds and in-kind donations with which we are very pleased and express our sincere gratitude.
