Support Associations

Social cohesion and dedication to shared objectives are of particular importance. At the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens, there are actually two support associations involved in promoting the interests of patients. Founded and supported by dedicated citizens and employees of the hospital, both associations do what they can to support the medical, nursing, and general-educational work of the hospital.

One support association, Förderverein Westpfalzküken, is actively involved in work of the Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine; the efforts of the other group, Förderverein Patientenforum Städtisches Krankenhaus Pirmasens e.V., are dedicated primarily to advanced training and providing lectures of general medical interest.

An invaluable asset of the constant work by both associations is that the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens is embedded in an informal network of socially committed people in the region.

Through their personal contacts, work and donations, these groups help anchor the hospital in the public’s mind.

Within the Patient Forum support association, particularly worthy of note are the ‘Green Ladies and Gentlemen’ who volunteer their visitation services on behalf of the hospital’s patients.

Both of the associations, Westpfalzküken and Patientenforum Städtisches Krankenhaus Pirmasens e.V., welcome your support. Information on events and opportunities to get involved is available through the respective contact persons.

The members of Westpfalzküken devote their efforts on behalf of family members and young patients at the Municipal Hospital of Pirmasens. Since its founding in February 2004, the association has been particularly active in public relations for the Children’s Clinic. During the ‘children’s campaign weeks’, for instance, physicians and other staff at the Municipal Hospital offer free lectures on children’s illnesses and problems. During the ‘children’s campaign weeks’, for instance, physicians and other staff at the Municipal Hospital offer free lectures on children’s illnesses and problems. Children’s parties are regularly organised to offer older and younger guests alike an opportunity to confront any threshold fears and to acquaint themselves with the employees of the Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in a playful setting.

Reading hours provide entertainment in the Children’s Clinic and are very popular with young patients. The mission this association has set for itself includes helping finance medical equipment and purchase toys for the Children’s Clinic.

The members of Westpfalzküken also make their mark in the form of a special gift for all newborn children at the Municipal Hospital: when they are discharged, they receive their own baby sleeping bag; according to the latest medical findings, this helps prevent the feared sudden infant death syndrome.

Information and offers of assistance around sudden infant death syndrome are available through the website of the joint parents’ initiative Plötzlicher Säuglingstod (GEPS) Baden-Württemberg Rheinland-Pfalz Saarland e. V.
